Jill Murphy的《The Worst Witch》系列曾是罗琳的《Harry Potter》系列出版前最畅销的儿童奇幻小说之一，1986年改编为电影，1998年改编为电视剧，播出了四季，深受喜爱。2016年CBBC台决定重启这部剧，把故事背景搬到21世纪。故事讲述天真活泼的平凡女孩Mildred Hubble进入女巫学院，学习各种魔法课程，努力成为优秀的女巫。这里的院长Cackle女士和蔼可亲，副院长Hardbroom女士严厉得吓人。Mildred在学院结识了两位好朋友Maud Spellbody和Enid Nightshade，也遇到了自己的宿敌——巫师家庭出身的Ethel Hallow。2016年5月，CBBC台公布了选角结果，Mildred Hubble由Bella Ramsey饰演。第一季将于2016年夏季拍摄，2017年初播出。
